The Banderas Bay Regatta is unique. Most of our fleet are boats visiting Mexico after sailing down from the USA or Canada. These Cruisers make up the vast majority of our entries. Last year we had 7 Divisions, this year we may have up to 9!

Multihulls
Cruisers
Heavy Cruisers
Plastic Classics (Fiberglass Production Boats designed over 25 yes ago)
Jib And Main (JAM - Non-spinnaker)
Jack & Jill (Double-Handed)

Although we are mandated by the founders to keep the Banderas Bay Regatta as a "Low technical requirement" FUN event, we have noticed that you all pay very close attention to your handicaps!

This year we are making some improvements to our handicapping and scoring systems, and we are committed to working with the fleet to set up divisions that work for you. Last year we were surprised by a great number of boats choosing to race in the new JAM and Jack & Jill divisions. This year we are asking a few different questions on the entry form and are ready to have up to 9 divisions for BBR XX! In general we need 5 entries to make a division and we start looking at splitting a division when we have 14 or more boats entered. We try to consider both boat type and handicap when making division assignments, this is where YOU can help by telling us where you think you should be!

If we have 5 or more Master Mariner / Woodies entered we can have a start for them too!

To help us provide you with good racing, please give us all the information you can.

All Handicaps are Provisional until Wednesday, March 21, 2012.
