GENERAL INFORMATION BANDERAS BAY We welcome you to Banderas Bay: The Bahia de Banderas is known and loved for the beauty of its surrounding mountains and the hospitality of its valley communities. Afternoon breezes of 12-18 knots are as consistent as sunrise. It is a sanctuary for whales, turtles and dolphins. On the Southside of the bay several of the small villages, inaccessible by road, have day-time anchorages for exploring; the north shore has two safe anchorages, where sailors often stay for weeks on end. Of the four marinas, Marina Riviera Nayarit at La Cruz is brand-new, and the town offers terrific live music and good food any day of the week. There is major renovation work planned for Marina Nuevo Vallarta, across from Paradise Village, which may be completed by next spring. Marina Vallarta is closest to Puerto Vallarta, with convenient and frequent buses to go downtown. For Paradise Village Marina in Nuevo Vallarta, make your reservations as early as possible. There the lively sailing community enjoys the pleasure of a great yacht club and a safe and well-kept marina within easy airport access. Vallarta Yacht Club offers weekly meetings for Puddle Jumpers from January to March, with safety seminars and support services, and sponsors ongoing weekly race activities to keep your boat tuned up. There are social programs ranging from Mexican Train to Sunday Grill-Out gatherings on the Club terrace, monthly fishing tournaments and the great Chili Cook Off competition. Vallarta Yacht Club (www.vallartayachtclub.com ) has established its reputation for sponsorship of great regattas. Banderas Bay Regatta is just one of them. It is especially designed for cruisers and we invite you to become part of this 17 year-old tradition. MARINAS Banderas Bay Regatta takes place during
the high holiday season. It is important to make slip reservations as
early as possible, even as early as in the fall of 2008. Slips will be
available at a 50% discount for all participating boats during regatta
days. Please mention that you are a Banderas Bay Regatta participant. PARADISE VILLAGE HOTEL RESERVATIONS Paradise Village Hotel and Marina, in
Nuevo Vallarta, is offering special rates ONLY to those vessels (owners,
